The End of June!

(And, we are half way though the 2012 year).

"You know how the time flies
Only yesterday was the time of our lives."

~Adele

"And when is there time to remember,
to sift, to weigh, to estimate, to total?"
~ Tillie Olsen

"Tomorrow, and tomorrow, and tomorrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day."
~William Shakespeare

"So during those first moments of the day,
which are yours and yours alone,
you can circumvent these boundaries
and concentrate fully on spiritual matters.
And this gives you the opportunity to plan
the time management of the entire day."
~ Menachem Mendel Schneerson

"You must have been warned against letting
the golden hours slip by;
but some of them are golden only because
we let them slip by."
~ James M. Barrie

"Sometimes I feel that life is passing me by,
not slowly either,
but with ropes of steam and spark-spattered wheels
and a hoarse roar of power or terror.
It's passing, yet I'm the one
who's doing all the moving."
 ~Martin Amis, Money

"I would I could stand on a busy corner,
hat in hand, and beg people to throw me
all their wasted hours."
  ~ Bernard Berenson

"Time is a dressmaker . . .
specializing in alterations."
~ Faith Baldwin

"Slow down!  Man in the mirror slow down
You're running too fast to see what life's all about
This world ain't a fire for you to put out
The best times are here and now
So slow down . . . Slow down."

~ Kenny Chesney lyrics

My "Swamp Dress"
A ReConstuction Project
ReUse.     ReCycle.     RePurpose.     ReVive.     ReWork.

I think everyone has those clothes that they just hang onto.... maybe it is something too small, or a bit stained, perhaps ripped or just plain outta style....but you just cannot bring yourself to part with it. And, if you are like me, you have a collection of clothes that are in the same color palette, that color that you always seem to pick....
(Again and again, even tho you have tons of other things to wear in the same hues).

Well, I have those clothes, too.
Today's focus is on recycling and the trend seems to be shopping thrift stores,
(or as we say here in Sonora . . . Segunda Shopping!)
Anyhow, I have been experimenting a lot lately and . . .
Nothing is safe in my closet!
I open that closet door and everything hanging there just seems to hold its breath.
"Who is going to get chopped up today?"
There I am, searching for items that belong together to make into some new new design.
Maybe, its just a phase.     But this is so much Fun!     Come along for the ride!!!
Here goes....

A sequined linen skirt and that old embroidered shawl will work.

Oh and that other skirt that never fit right and some fabric I recently bought.

"Fashion is always silly,
for before it can spread far,
it must be calculated for silly people;
as examples of sense, wit, or ingenuity
could be imitated only by a few."

~ HORACE WALPOLE,  1782
A silky rose colored top becomes the "base" piece.
I like it so far.....

That old blouse now becomes new sleeves.
Covering the old  bodice with that gorgeous new fabric.
The skirt looks plain wrong....what to do?
Draping....

“Fashion is not about being outlandish,
it is about being you - Yourself.
Anything that you are comfortable in is fashion.”
~ Priyanka Chopra
(Femina India & Miss World 2000)

A bustle!  That will be different.
A few strips of fabric and a new idea..... Then, it just all starts to go a little crazy.....

"Everything that people create
is a projection of what's inside them."
~ Stuart Lichtman

There will never be two of these..... guaranteed.

And here it is in the shop.
awww....  both dresses to the left are now sold.

“Fashion is not something that exists only in dresses.
Fashion is in the sky, in the street;
Fashion has to do with ideas,
The way we live, what is happening.”

~ Coco Chanel
