On Tuesday, October 8th (as an "Uncommon Women on Common Ground" hosted event), we presented the Penasco Runway Project: Altered Ropa Contest. With an estimated attendance of at least 90 onlookers, a group of 9 Contestants faced the panel of 4 judges for an exciting evening!
The designers had their option of modeling their recreated garment themselves,
or having a model who would show off their Re-Design.
Here are the 9 outfits:
“Imagination is the beginning
of creation.
You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine,
and
at last, you create what you will.”
~ George Bernard Shaw
Our panel of judges: Claudia, Dalia, Virginia and Judy.
they had "Before" Photo Enlargements to see what each contestant had started with...
So. . . Let's get started! |
“Creativity takes courage.”
~ Henri Matisse
We originally had 14 contestants complete the application.
However, 9 completed their projects and competed at the contest.
So, in my opinion, everyone who competed were total winners!
We presented an Honorable Mention award to each contestant
who competed and did not win one of the 4 Prizes.
“Creativity
is inventing, experimenting, growing,
taking risks, breaking rules, making
mistakes
. . . and having Fun!”
~ Mary Lou Cook
The time and effort along with the heart and soul that each competitor poured into their project was fantastic and impressive! I respect each of them for all of their incredible hard work and passion!
