A Scrumptious Project for Spring 2022

Every once in awhile, I get asked to design something
that really is special.
Recently, I was asked to take a basic little dress
and re-design it for a special event -
a wedding vow reaffirming ceremony.

The dress as it looked.

Pinterest Inspiration
* So, this dress is leather and very different fabrics
than I would be working with. However, the concept
of the shirt's layers and asymmetry was the
beginning of some inspiration.

I had one piece of this lovely beaded detail which
would perfectly pair with the beaded crown.

And, I was all set to start the re-designing!

Re-aligned the under-slip and added the
♡ Lovely Detailing. ♡

Then I cut off the bottom tier of the skirt.
And, added length to the under-skirt.

I realized that the middle tier seam was never going to look
right. It was going to have to go!
This meant removing the entire skirt to remake it.

Much better!
Next step was adding the (curtain) sheer skirt fabric.
This was very assymetrical and would become
a train at the back of the dress.

Now, for the fun part!

The tiny hand-cut fabric flower buds - each one
with bits of multi-color yarn strands.

Some of the detail work could be sewn
on by machine . . .

. . . but much of it would be hand-sewn.

A few views of the skirt and train:

Introducing, my favorite Spring 2022 Project:

This was a fantastic and fun project.
From concept to finish, it was totally enjoyable.

I describe this dress as "ethereal" -
Delicately lovely with a fairy-land mystique.

          Congratulations!

A Decade in Review

THE DECADE

Photo from 2012

Photo from 2019

My first blog post or story on this "blogspot" site was in July, 2010.
(That was 110 posts ago, to be exact!)
That is a crazy long time ago.

For this entire decade, we have made our home here in Puerto Peñasco.
(Wow! That seems like such a long time.)
For parts of all of those years, I have had my little studio
over there. . . just across the street.
Actually, the Grand Opening was in November 2010.

Some days, it feels like my "office"
as I hurry up to get to work on time!
But, most of the time, it has been my retreat
and a great little peaceful haven.

Looking forward to the next decade,
I hope to expand the property a bit more
as an artsy corner in Peñasco.

OF 110 POSTS IN ALMOST 10 YEARS, ONLY 3 WERE MADE IN 2019.
A SIGN OF THE TIMES, PERHAPS?
More and more, my posts are "short and sweet" photos with #hashtags!
(Yeah. I even figured those out in the last year or 2).
Looking at the few posts in 2019, I seem to be amazingly concerned with
how time is flying by...
So, here we go!
Off to the beginning of the new Roaring 2020's!
 My 2019 sentiment remains:
TIME FLIES
"She said luck is all you make it
You just reach out and take it
Now let's dance a while

She said nothing ever happens
If you don't make it happen
And if you can't laugh then smile

But after a while
You realize time flies
And the best thing that you can do
Is take whatever comes to you

'Cause time flies."

~ Lyrics Time Flies, Porcupine Tree

My Flamenco Passion!

So, I am invited to be participate in a Flamenco Fashion Show
at the Festival de España held at the Phoenix Center for the Arts

In past years, I also was a part of a similar event in Tucson.
Perhaps, you remember some of those pictures:

From several years ago, here is my "before" photos
of one of my project dresses - followed by the "after" completed dress.

So, here we go again!!
I thought I would post pictures of my "stash"
. . . .this is what I have to work with:

At first glance, pretty boring things...
Hopefully, they can become some great flamenco outfits.

Stay Tuned.
